Course Goals

The educational goals of this online course are to:

• Increase your understanding of recent legislation affecting office-based treatment of opioid addiction
  
  
• Increase your knowledge about the basic pharmacology of opioids
  
  
• Increase your knowledge about the pharmacology of buprenorphine
  
  
• Increase your understanding of the safety and effectiveness of buprenorphine
  
  
• Increase your understanding about conducting assessments to determine good candidates for office-based buprenorphine treatment
  
  
• Increase your knowledge about such buprenorphine-related issues as confidentiality, the HIPAA Act, co-occurring disorders, and urine testing
  
  
• Increase your ability to orient buprenorphine patients to recovery
  
  
• Understand the relationships between buprenorphine and 12-Step program meetings
  
  
• Increase your understanding of ways to prepare for problematic patient behaviors.
