About the Center for Hepatitis, HIV, and Addiction Training and Technology
This online course program was developed by the Danya Institute and Danya International for the Center for Hepatitis, HIV, and Addiction Training and Technology (CHHATT). Overall, the CHHATT focuses on three primary areas: (1) professional development of outreach workers; (2) technical assistance and training for outreach workers; and (3) education and information dissemination for substance abuse, outreach, and other healthcare professionals regarding substance abuse and HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and other infectious diseases. These education, technical assistance, and information dissemination efforts include regional conferences.
The Central East is itself a component of the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Central
East), which is managed by the Danya Institute through a cooperative agreement with the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. The primary goals of the
Central East are to improve the quality of substance abuse treatment and the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases among drug-using individuals. It uses training and technology transfer strategies to increase competencies in counselors and professionals working in the addiction field. Additionally, the
Central East works with academic institutions to develop curricula and degree programs within these institutions. The
Central East builds on and is supported by a consortium of organizations, including the State substance abuse directors of the participating States; local organizations in the substance abuse, mental health treatment, and primary care fields; professional and community organizations; managed care organizations; criminal justice entities; and other Federal agencies and national organizations.
