Module Two: Working With Welfare Reform Clients (25 Minutes)

The goals of this module are to review the critical requirements and services of the Federal and State programs for welfare reform and to suggest ways this information can help you promote positive treatment outcomes for addiction treatment clients who are TANF recipients.

Addiction treatment professionals must give foremost attention to the substance abuse needs of clients, while at the same time, understand the impact of other requirements that will affect clients' lives. This module will increase your knowledge about the TANF program and your understanding about how it affects your clients.

This knowledge will enable you to work more effectively with TANF caseworkers to assure that addiction treatment clients who also participate in TANF receive services that will help them to address the full range of their problems.
